Shift Workspace & Tasks
Shift task dashboard for compliance tracking and task completion across all roles
The Shift Workspace is where the team tracks what's getting done during a daypart — who has filed their service-day report, which managers have published theirs, and which Checklists are still outstanding.
The Shift Workspace is visible to all roles. Staff see their own task list; managers and admins additionally see sign-off controls and the full team compliance view.
Opening the Workspace
Navigate to Service Day → Tasks (/tasks). The page opens to today's date and the current daypart (auto-picked from time of day in Central Time):
- Lunch: 04:00 to 16:59 (4:00 AM to 4:59 PM)
- Dinner: 17:00 to 21:59 (5:00 PM to 9:59 PM)
- Late Night: 22:00 to 03:59 (10:00 PM to 3:59 AM next day)
Use the Date and Daypart controls at the top right to load a different slice, then tap Load.
What You See
The workspace is one page per daypart, split into three cards:
Staff Compliance
Lists staff who owe a service-day shift report (seeded from published lineup assignments). Each row shows:
- Name
- Filed (green) with View link, or Missing (grey)
The header shows a running count (e.g. 4/6 filed). Staff on multiple daypart lineups still appear once — they owe one report for the service day.
Empty list? No published lineup with assignees for this service day, or compliance not yet seeded.
Manager Compliance
Same pattern for managers on the published management schedule for this daypart:
- Published (green) or Missing (grey)
Checklists (Shift Tasks)
Every checklist instance for this date and daypart, grouped by Due timing (Before / During / After):
- Individual — assigned to one employee; may block their shift report when incomplete
- Shared — any roster member can complete; a designated Closer (from lineup publish) is accountable
- Due: [daypart] badge — task created under another segment but due in this workspace view
- Needs manager verification — staff may complete, but a manager must tap Verify before Shift Task Sign-Off
- Cancelled — retained for lineage and no longer an actionable completion blocker
- Closer:
{name}subtitle on shared tasks when a closer is designated
Proof of Completion (Verification)
Task definitions can require proof before completion:
- Checkbox only
- Photo upload
- Text note
- Numeric log (with corrective action when out of range)
Shift Task Sign-Off
A manager reviews checklist completion and taps Sign Off Shift to lock that daypart's task instances. Tasks requiring manager verification must be Verified first.
Admins define templates at Administration → Shift Tasks (/admin/shift-tasks).
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Title & Description | Task name and instructions |
| Type | Single task or multi-item checklist |
| Assignment scope | Individual or shift-wide (shared) |
| Phase / Due segment / Due timing | When the task is due relative to a daypart |
| Blocks staff report | Prevents report submit until complete (individual tasks) |
| Manager signoff required | Requires manager Verify before daypart sign-off |
| Verification | Photo, text, or numeric proof |
| Reference image | Standard for visual comparison |
Checklists materialize on lineup publish, not on schedule publish alone.
Why blockers differ by surface
A task's typed obligation is evaluated for the surface showing it. An incomplete individual task marked as blocking can prevent that employee's shift report; a shared task or a task awaiting manager verification is handled by daypart closeout instead. A cancelled or waived task remains visible for history but is not treated as successful completion.
