Getting Started
Your first day with Danvas — log in, find your bearings, and complete your first shift
This tutorial walks you through your first time using Danvas from scratch. By the end you'll have set up your profile, completed onboarding, and filed your first shift report.
Time to complete: ~10 minutes
Step 1: Sign In
Open the link your administrator sent you and sign in with the email address they registered.
- Check your email for an invitation from Danvas (via Clerk). If you don't see it, check spam.
- Click the magic link or enter the temporary password.
- Set a password if prompted, or continue with Google/GitHub SSO if your organization uses it.
If you can't sign in, ask your admin to verify your account is active.
Step 2: Complete Onboarding
After your first sign-in, you'll see an onboarding wizard. This only appears once.
- Enter your phone number — used for shift reminders and push notifications.
- Select your job roles — Server, Cook, Manager, Bartender, etc. Roles help route the right schedules and tasks to you.
- Click "Finish" — you'll land on your dashboard.
You can skip onboarding and complete it later from Settings → Profile.
Step 3: Find Your Dashboard
Your dashboard is your home base. What you see depends on your role:
- Managers and admins see a KPI ribbon (open incidents, pending reports), a staff overview, and recent activity.
- Staff members see their upcoming shifts, unread announcements, and pending tasks.
Tip: Bookmark your dashboard URL so you can return to it quickly.
Step 4: Join Your First Shift
When your shift starts, open the Workspace from the left sidebar (or Reports → Shift Workspace).
- Review any pre-shift briefings — check the Line-Up Cards for today's goals and announcements.
- Acknowledge the pre-shift if prompted — this confirms you've read the briefing.
