The AI Assistant (powered by DeepSeek V4.1 Flash via the Vercel AI Gateway) acts as an intelligent operational assistant. In this tutorial, you will learn how to access the assistant, query operational guidance, draft shift communications, and understand safety boundaries and rate limits. Time to complete: 8 minutes

Step 1: Open the Assistant Dashboard

The AI Assistant (Ask Danvas) is available across web and mobile:

  1. Log in to the Danvas dashboard.
  2. Press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K) and select Ask Danvas (or navigate to /ask). On mobile devices, open More in the bottom navigation dock and tap Ask.
  3. A clean chat panel will appear, displaying a greeting and suggesting sample prompts (e.g. "What should a shift manager check before close?").

Step 2: Query Operational Procedures & Policy

Let's query standard operating guidance for service preparation.

  1. In the chat input box, type:

    "What are the standard steps for opening the bar and verifying station readiness?"

  2. Tap Send or press Enter.
  3. The AI streams a clear, structured list of opening checks (ice bin sanitation, garnish prep, POS terminal test, speed rail stocking).

Step 3: Draft Shift Announcements (Draft-First Workflow)

Managers frequently need to broadcast announcements to staff before service. The assistant accelerates drafting while keeping managers in full control.

  1. In the chat box, type:

    "Draft a dinner shift announcement reminding servers about 86'd specials and VIP guests at table 12."

  2. The AI generates a concise, professional message draft.
  3. Review and copy the generated text into Messages & Announcements in the dashboard to publish it to your team.

Draft-First Rule: The AI Assistant never performs unreviewed database writes. It provides structured drafts for you to review and publish through Danvas workflows.

Step 4: Prepare Manager Handover Notes

  1. To prepare a shift transition summary, ask:

    "Help me format a manager handover note covering sales pace, maintenance flags, and guest feedback."

  2. The assistant provides a structured template that you can fill in and transfer to your Manager Report.

Step 5: Understanding Boundaries

  • Rate Limits: Chat queries are rate-limited to 20 requests per minute per user.
  • Role & Scope Isolation: The assistant operates within your team and location permissions. An admin with no explicit location assignments has team-wide location scope; admins with explicit assignments, managers, and members remain limited to their authorized locations.
  • Draft Confirmation: Operational mutations are never committed automatically — you review and confirm drafts in the native workflow.
