Pre-Shift Setup
Daily operational planning and staff briefings
Overview
The pre-shift setup is a critical routine where managers plan for upcoming operations, set sales targets, and brief the team on the day's goals and tasks.
Setting Up a Pre-Shift
Managers should complete the pre-shift setup at least 30 minutes before the start of each service.
- Navigate to Reports → Pre-Shift.
- Click New Pre-Shift for your active location.
- Select the Shift (Morning, Afternoon, or Evening).
- Review the Staff Roster (auto-populated from the schedule).
- Set the Goal Sales for the shift.
- Add Shift Notes or focus areas (e.g., "Focus on upselling cocktails").
- Assign specific Shift Tasks to staff members if needed.
- Submit the setup.
Once submitted, the pre-shift plan is broadcast to the team message board, and staff can review it on their mobile devices before they clock in.
Line-Up Briefings
The pre-shift plan serves as the foundation for the physical "Line-Up" or "Family Meal" briefing. Managers can open the Line-Up Card on a tablet or screen to walk the team through:
- Sales targets and progress.
- Key operational notes.
- Specific task assignments.
- Employee recognition.
Compliance Reminders
The system uses the pre-shift roster to track Compliance. If a staff member is listed on the pre-shift but doesn't file an end-of-shift report, they will receive automated nudges via Slack to ensure all operational data is captured.
